Irrigation Pump Program w/ Jesus Film

Irrigation Pumps for People Living on $2.00/Day

Sadly, there are 4 billion people living on less than $2.00 a day.  Over 1 billion of these people are estimated to live on just $.77 per day (when the World Bank estimates it takes $1.08 to meet basic needs), and they are at grave risk of death.

Interestingly, we in the United States enjoy an average household income of $53, 100, fresh water, and an abundance of food.  Scripture is not silent in expecting us to respond:

Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality.  At the present time your plenty will supply what they need...Then there will be equality.   2 Co 8:13-14

While the poverty situation around the globe seems so hopeless, we at GIFT have identified ways we can impact these communities with high impact/low cost farming solutions. And we're putting an infrastructure in place to address this situation. All in the name of Christ.

GIFT's Irrigation Pump installation in Jimma, Ethiopia is helping to increase farm yield year around.

GIFT has forged an innovative partnership between several global organizations to impact lives materially and spiritually. We purchase irrigation pumps from KickStart, a unique global supplier of innovative pump solutions. KickStart has shown that farmers who use their Super MoneyMaker pumps can increase their annual farm income from around $110 to $1100 per year. This statistic is based on 39,000 installations KickStart has delivered.

We've also worked with Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Helping Hands Africa to install the pumps and to recover the costs of the pump from increased farm incomes so we can replicate the efforts over and over on just one investment. And we've aligned the pump initiative with the JESUS Film Harvest Partners so we can air a JESUS Film on some of the lands where the pumps are placed based on recipient interest. Thus, we leverage a combined track record of meeting physical needs and impacting the world with Christ's love.  And Lord willing, we'll be expanding our partnering with other groups.  GIFT plans include collaborating with an organization with operations in Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya and elsewhere.

Working with our partners, GIFT delivers on a complete irrigation pump and JESUS Film initiative for around $350.00. This amount covers a pump; spare parts; program management; secure air freight; JESUS Film airings; and pump cost recovery and program replication efforts.

So, GIFT donors will see their initial investment expand beyond imagination.

Wherever appropriate, working through our global partners, we recover the cost of the pumps from the increased farm incomes, and we reinvest these funds into new pump and JESUS Film initiatives.

It's a system called micro-enterprise finance. In this way, donations go farther, more people are helped, and this huge population that needs help contributes in helping one another.

We're hoping to engage the domestic Church broadly in this effort through our creative funding and Stewardship programs.

At GIFT, we recognize providing any help is great, but providing people with the means to help themselves is even better. As such, providing irrigation pumps is a cornerstone project for GIFT.

If you'd like to provide life-transforming irrigation pumps and spiritual witness, please prayerfully consider making a donation to gift and specifying support for an irrigation pump program. Full program sponsorships are $350. We also have a partial sponsorship for $175.00. Or you can simply designate any gift amount to this project, and GIFT will combine your funds with those of other interested parties until we have enough for a pump project.
