Refugee Resettlement

GIFT is sensitive to the plight of refugees now coming into the U. S. and settling into our cities from war torn areas around the world. (GIFT founders once led a small refugee resettlement organization. And the Bible specifically calls us to welcome and love these "aliens.")

The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God. Leviticus 19:34

Because these refugees have endured the worst of humanity -- most have suffered grave losses -- and have left everything behind, GIFT will be working along side individuals and organizations to continue to assist these people. They clearly need to experience Christ's healing -- and life-transforming -- love through us. This effort will include helping recruit Christians to welcome refugees and support their assimilation, and helping the refugees secure much needed supplies, since they've left everything behind.

You can get behind refugee resettlement in cities near you, as well. GIFT encourages everyone to befriend a refugee family or lone individual, to become a mentor, to help them with transitional issues, and to recognize they're just needing someone to love them as they're often far away from family and friends.
